Stadium fan stand surveillance system at La Cartuja, Seville, Spain

Challenge

The stadium had to update its video surveillance system to comply with current Spanish laws and regulations for the prevention of violence in sporting events. This required that all the stadium’s access areas and 100% of the stands must be recorded throughout the duration of the match. The new system needed to be able to survey and record 360º the stands space as well as to radically improve the video quality of the recording. The project had to replace also old interior cameras and provide new exterior ones, rely on a robust and secure set of servers for storage and facilitate the operators’ work on match days.

Solution

Working closely with Grupo Imaco, Future Connections adviced, supplied and helped implementing a new CCTV system with 7K technology from Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions Company. The new video platform is equipped with 30Mpx (7K) HD PRO cameras that provide La Cartuja Stadium in Seville with exceptional video quality: their pixel density allows to recognise with ease a person located anywhere on the stands. In addition, new H4IRPTZ cameras were also supplied to replace old exterior cameras on each corner of the Stadium, equipping it with the most advanced video technology on the market.
The recording of all new and existing cameras was securely stored and distributed on Avigilon servers with RAID    storage technology. A video wall consisting of 6 4K 55” screens was also selected and installed.

Benefits

State-of-the-art technology video surveillance system with expanded capabilities in terms of surveyed stadium space, recording quality, recording storage and viewing surface for the operators in charge of the system on match days. The new system now fully complies with the local laws and regulations. It was inauguared on 17th November 2020 with a match between the Spanish and the German national football teams.
